(and I hope they actually STICK to these laws because I’m sick and tired of DUIs getting off on “technicalities)
The state of Arizona this week has implemented new laws for Driving. These laws are in affect today:
This week Arizona will enact one of the toughest DUI laws in the nation.
Hardest hit are first-time violators and a new class of “super extreme” DUI offenders whose blood-alcohol concentration registers 0.20 percent or above, which is more than double the legal limit of 0.08 percent.
New penalties include mandatory ignition-interlock devices for first-time offenders, increased fines and a minimum of 45 days in jail for super extreme DUI convictions.
Also, Phoenix police will begin pulling over motorists seen texting on their cell phones while driving inside the city limits.
From now until Oct. 19, anyone seen texting while driving will be subject to a warning from Phoenix police. After that, drivers will face fines of up to $250 plus $210 in surcharges.
Lastly, if you speed and go over 85 miles per hour, it is criminal speed and can go to jail with a fine and points.
Drive Safe & Smart (and if you don’t, you better hope I’m not behind you! I’m one of those drivers who will go out of her way to run idiots off the road. =D)
